“Clark Kent -- Miser!”

From DC's 1952 December-January issue, this tenth-of-a-dollar gem features a wonderfully chaotic cover by Win Mortimer: Superboy soars above a Smallville street, clearly out of control, as a geyser of water erupts from a burst pipe below him. Two alarmed bystanders — a woman in red and a man in purple — react in panic, while a speech bubble warns, "Look out! Superboy has gone wild! He can't control his super-powers!" Inside, Al Schwartz and artist Curt Swan (inked by John Fischetti) deliver the story "Clark Kent — Miser!", promising a very different kind of trouble for the Boy of Steel.
