Adventure Comics #235 (April 1957) teases one of the more delightfully dramatic scenarios of the Silver Age: the cover by Curt Swan and Stan Kaye depicts Superboy openly pulling back his shirt to reveal the iconic "S" shield, telling a gathered crowd of Smallville Press reporters to "let the world know my secret identity," while Ma Kent proudly holds up a tiny pair of "iron booties" and Pa Kent looks on approvingly. The scene crackles with that warm, earnest charm DC did so well in this era — cameras flashing, reporters scribbling, the whole Kent family apparently done with secrets. It's a wonderfully offbeat premise that makes "The Confession of Superboy!" genuinely hard to put back on the shelf.
