“Secret Origins Part 3: Eyes of the Hawk”

In "Secret Origins Part 3: Eyes of the Hawk," Superman faces a haunting alternate reality where he was raised on Thanagar, trained by Katar to be a distant watcher of justice. As Cogito manipulates the JLA members meant to save him, the line between protector and pawn blurs in this gripping, introspective tale. Written by Tom Peyer and illustrated by Tom Grindberg, with inks by Bill Anderson and colors by Glenn Whitmore and Digital Chameleon, the issue's striking cover by Walt Simonson captures the weight of this shadowed journey.

Cogito runs still another scenario where Superman landed on Thanagar as a child and was brought up to police the planet by watching out for crime from afar. Katar helps Supes understand his servitude and want for something better. Cogito also has the JLA members who were out to rescue Superman under his control.
