Karb-Brak makes everyone think Clark Kent is awesome so that they will surround him. This gives Karb-Brak an advantage in his battle with Superman (who he knows is Clark) as there will be innocent bystanders around during their fight. Superman beats Karb-Brak, but Karb-Brak reveals his secret - that he is dying from exposure to Superman!
