Action Comics #462
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis August 1976 issue of Action Comics finds Superman locked in a tense confrontation, the cover — penciled and inked by Bob Oksner — showing the Man of Steel corkscrewing through the air above a city skyline, caught in the grip of a mysterious purple-and-yellow costumed villain with wild red hair and gleaming white hands, the two figures framed against a striking concentric-circle target burst. The story banner promises "Super-War of Independence!", and as a bonus the issue also includes a Krypto the Superdog backup — so there's plenty of super-powered storytelling packed into one 30-cent package. Interior art comes courtesy of the reliable Curt Swan and Tex Blaisdell, with Cary Bates scripting and Ben Oda lettering the action.
