Superman searches his memory all the way back to babyhood on Krypton and discovers that Jor-El predicted a major catastrophe would face Earth in the very near future. A great dark star is streaking towards the solar system and its gravitational pull is speeding up Earth's rotation which for some reason gives everybody on Earth super powers. He tries to bring things back to normal but the Earth people try to stop him.
