Prog 861 of 2000 AD heralds a "New Thrill" with the striking launch of Canon Fodder, whose cover promises that "You won't have a Prayer!" Dominating the cathedral-like setting, a blond, broad-shouldered figure in a red-and-black clerical outfit and sweeping crimson cape stands weapon in hand, flanked by a masked figure on the left and a darker, brooding companion to the right — a trio that radiates menace and pulpy style in equal measure. Chris Weston's cover art brings a brooding grandeur to this November 1993 issue, which also features Judge Dredd and the third installment of "Book of the Dead" from the creative team of Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, and Dermot Power.
