“Double Deal in Dallas!”

Book Three of Image's 1993 retro-superhero anthology promises "Double Thrills" and "Double the Action," and the cover by Rick Veitch and Don Simpson delivers exactly that — a star-spangled hero in a blue-and-red costume launches a flying kick while a green-armored villain and a swarm of lumpy, monstrous creatures close in from below, with an enormous reptilian head looming at the top and a giant eyeball peering in from the corner. Alan Moore writes and Steve Bissette illustrates the interior tale "Double Deal in Dallas!," bringing that unmistakable Silver Age energy through a thoroughly modern lens. It's a vibrant, slightly unhinged cover that sets the tone perfectly for whatever uncanny mayhem waits inside.
