Whoopee"? is not so new, since it is at least three weeks old, but it is enjoying great vogue. Instead of saying one is having a party, one calls ita “whoopee.” A newer one still, supplanting the old, ‘Go jump in the lake!" or ‘Go walk around the block!"" is ‘Go and comb your hair!"* Student that he is of our language, Mr. Winchell has been trying to. ascertain whence the word “‘tip’’ came. His best clue, he says, is that it is the result of the almost maniacal fondness of the Briton for abbrevia- tion. Your Londoner will call everything by its initials.
