Willem Ritstier, born June 12, 1959, in the Netherlands, is a versatile Dutch comics professional whose career spans four decades of work across some of the most prominent periodicals in the Dutch-language comics world. Active since 1984, he has accumulated credits as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer across nearly 190 issues, with his work appearing regularly in publications such as *Suske en Wiske Weekblad*, *Kuifje*, *Tina*, *Donald Duck*, *Eppo Stripblad*, and *MYX Stripmagazine* — a range that reflects both his technical breadth and his adaptability across different genres and audiences.
Among his more notable writing contributions is a chapter in the *Storm* spin-off series, specifically *The Exile of Thoem*, published in *Eppo*. The assignment demonstrated his ability to work within established fictional universes while bringing his own voice to the material.
Ritstier's sustained contributions to Dutch comics were formally recognized in 2017, when he received the Stripschapprijs, one of the most respected honors in the Netherlands for achievement in the comics field. With a career still active as recently as 2024, he stands as a dependable and multifaceted figure in the ongoing tradition of Dutch comics publishing.
