Troy Nixey
Troy Nixey, born 12 April 1972 in Canada, is a comic book artist and film director best known for his atmospheric, moody work on horror-tinged superhero stories. He entered the industry in the early 1990s, contributing to anthologies like *Dark Horse Presents* before making his mark on DC Comics. Nixey’s signature style—detailed, shadowy, and evocative of classic horror—shines in *Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham*, a Lovecraftian Elseworlds tale, and the miniseries *Only the End of the World Again*, both written by Mike Mignola. He also collaborated with writer Jeph Loeb on *Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight* and penciled issues of *Harley Quinn* and *Prey*. As a co-creator, Nixey helped launch the supernatural series *The Goon* with Eric Powell, though his own creator-owned work is less known. Beyond comics, he directed the 2010 horror film *Don't Be Afraid of the Dark*, adapting his own visual sensibilities to cinema. Nixey’s career slowed after the 2010s, but his influence persists in the blend of gothic horror and superhero storytelling. He received no major awards, though his contributions to the *Batman* mythos remain cult favorites among fans of dark, atmospheric art.
