Peter Milligan, born 24 June 1961, is a British comic book writer whose work has spanned both the UK and US industries. He began his career contributing to British anthology titles such as *2000 AD*, *Revolver*, *Eagle*, and *A1*, and was instrumental in launching the magazine *Deadline*. In the United States, Milligan became a defining voice for DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint, where he revitalized the characters *Shade, the Changing Man* and *Human Target*, wrote a four-year run on *Hellblazer*, and created original series including *Enigma*, *The Extremist*, *Egypt*, and *Greek Street*. At Marvel, he co-created *X-Statix* with artist Mike Allred. Milligan’s work is marked by a sharp, often surreal sensibility and a willingness to explore psychological and social edges. He remains a respected figure in the field, known for his long association with *2000 AD* and his contributions to the mature-reader landscape of 1990s and 2000s comics.
