Paul Di Filippo was born on October 29, 1954, in the United States. Though best known as an American science fiction writer, he has also made notable contributions to comics. His path into the industry came through his work as a regular reviewer for several prominent print and online magazines, including *Asimov's Science Fiction*, *The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction*, and *Locus Magazine*, where he has written book reviews since 2013. He is also a member of the Turkey City Writer's Workshop.

Di Filippo's writing is characterized by a "tradition of the bizarre and the weird," as described by critic Antonio Urias. In comics, he is credited as a writer on 11 issues between 2005 and 2006, with his most frequent credits appearing on *Top 10: Beyond the Farthest Precinct*, *Doc Samson*, and *X-Men Unlimited*.
