James Hudnall
James David Hudnall was born on April 10, 1957, and died on April 9, 2019. He entered the comic book industry in 1986 with *Espers*, a series for Eclipse Comics, and soon became known for his work at Marvel and DC, including runs on *Alpha Flight* and *Strikeforce: Morituri*. He also created the sequel series *Interface* and wrote graphic novels such as *Lex Luthor: The Unauthorized Biography* and *Sinking*. His series *Harsh Realm*, co-created with artist Andrew Paquette, was adapted for television by *X-Files* producer Chris Carter in 1998. Hudnall and Paquette later sued Carter and Fox Television for failing to credit them, and the suit was settled with the pair receiving acknowledgment in the show’s opening titles. His other credits include *Hardcase*, *The Solution*, *Aftermath*, and *Shut Up and Die*, often blending science fiction with political themes. Later in life, he wrote a libertarian-leaning blog for the Pajamas Media network. Hudnall is remembered as a writer who balanced mainstream superhero work with creator-owned projects, leaving a mark on both independent and major publisher comics.
