Clive Barker
1952–
Clive Barker was born 5 October 1952 in Liverpool, England. He first gained widespread attention in the 1980s with his *Books of Blood* short-story collections, which established him as a leading voice in horror. Barker’s work in comics began in 1987 and continued through 2013, during which he was credited as writer, artist, colorist, inker, and letterer across 37 issues. His most prominent comic credits include *Tapping the Vein*, *Weaveworld*, *Clive Barker's Night Breed*, *Night of the Living Dead: London*, *Clive Barker: Revelations*, and *Clive Barker's Hellraiser*. He also wrote and directed the first *Hellraiser* film, which launched a major franchise, and his story “The Forbidden” was adapted into the *Candyman* series. Barker’s own paintings and illustrations have been exhibited in U.S. galleries and frequently appear in his books. His comic work often adapted his own horror narratives, collaborating with artists to bring his dark, imaginative worlds to the page. Barker’s influence on horror across multiple media remains substantial, and his work continues to be revisited by new generations of readers and viewers.
