Bill Koeb is an American painter, illustrator, and comic artist whose work bridges the worlds of underground rock posters, alternative press, and horror-tinged comics. Born in the United States, he began his career creating illustrations for the *Washington City Paper* and *The Village Voice*, as well as designing posters for Bill Graham Presents. His paintings have been exhibited in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

In comics, Koeb is best known for his work in the 1990s, where his visceral, textured style brought a gritty, painterly quality to the medium. He illustrated stories for Marvel’s *Clive Barker’s Hellraiser* series and the Vertigo miniseries *Faultlines*, as well as Alan Moore’s song adaptation “Hair of the Snake That Bit Me.” He also created the artwork for the character Sarah in the 1996 film *The Crow: City of Angels*. His most credited titles include *Faultlines*, *The Hacker Files*, *Interface*, and *Shock the Monkey*, where he often served as artist, colorist, inker, and letterer.

Koeb’s career in comics was relatively brief—active from 1990 to 1997—but his distinct visual approach left a mark on the alternative and horror comics of the era. His legacy endures among fans of 1990s Vertigo and independent comics.
