Vertigo's Faultlines opens its six-issue run with a cover that feels more like a painted dream than a comic book — a translucent human figure reaches upward through layered earth, suspended between a lush, green landscape above and the rich sediment below, as if caught between two worlds separated by a geological fault. Bill Koeb's painterly cover work is genuinely striking, blending the organic textures of soil, water, and vegetation into a single haunting image. With Lee Marrs writing and coloring alongside Koeb's art, "Fresh Meat, Old Lies" promises a Vertigo series with real visual ambition right from the start.
