Who is Tundra?

Tundra is a massive elemental creature tied to the Canadian wilderness — a living embodiment of the land itself. It first clashed with Alpha Flight, Canada's premier superhero team, making it one of the earliest and most formidable threats the team faced upon their debut.

Tundra burst onto the scene in the very first issue of Alpha Flight in 1983 — a Bronze Age debut as significant as they come, sharing that landmark key issue with a roster of memorable Marvel figures including Sasquatch, Walter Langkowski, Heather Hudson, and Jean-Paul Beaubier. Over a publishing span stretching more than three decades, this Marvel creation by the legendary John Byrne has haunted the pages of Alpha Flight, Amazing X-Men, and X-Man, carving out a niche as one of the more distinctive presences in the Canadian corner of the Marvel Universe. Seventeen appearances may not sound like a crowd, but when one of them is a certified key issue and your debut comes courtesy of Byrne himself, you've earned your place in any serious collection.
