Who is Tragicomix?

Tragicomix is a young Gaulish warrior and the sweetheart of Falbala who is conscripted into the Roman army. His forced service sets off the central conflict of Asterix and the Legionary, prompting Asterix and Obelix to enlist as legionaries to rescue him.

Tragicomix made their comic book debut in 1971's Asterix #10, brought to life by the legendary creative partnership of René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo — a Bronze Age arrival into one of the most beloved and enduring universes in all of European comics. Appearing across publications like Asterix Mundart and MV Comix through Egmont Ehapa, this character has kept remarkable company over the decades, sharing pages with Asterix, Obelix, Miraculix, Falbala, and Julius Cäsar himself. With a catalog presence stretching all the way to 2024 — over fifty years of comics history — Tragicomix is a testament to just how rich and layered the world of the indomitable Gauls truly is, rewarding the dedicated reader who digs deeper than the headline heroes.
