Salem Saberhagen
Few characters in the Archie universe have earned their own devoted following quite like Salem Saberhagen, the sharp-tongued, scene-stealing feline who first prowled into comics in Archie's Madhouse #50 back in 1966, courtesy of creators George Gladir and Bill Kresse. A true Silver Age original, Salem has proven remarkably durable — racking up appearances across six decades and turning up in everything from the breezy pages of Betty and Veronica Comics Digest Magazine to the genuinely eerie Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. He keeps exceptional company, sharing adventures alongside Sabrina Spellman, Archie Andrews, and the whole Riverdale crowd, yet Salem has a way of making any panel he occupies unmistakably his own. With four key-issue appearances to his name and a publishing history stretching all the way to 2026, this cat is far more than a sidekick — he's a cornerstone of Archie's supernatural side, and any collector worth their salt should have him on their radar.
