Who is Merryman?

Merryman is the self-proclaimed leader of the Inferior Five, DC's Silver Age parody super-team made up of bumbling heroes with largely useless abilities. Despite having no powers of his own, the diminutive, frail Merryman leads teammates Dumb Bunny, Awkwardman, Blimp, and White Feather.

Merryman is a delightful Silver Age gem from DC Comics, born in the pages of Showcase #62 in 1966 under the creative hands of E. Nelson Bridwell, Joe Orlando, and Jerry Grandenetti. As the driving force behind the wonderfully self-deprecating Inferior Five, he's spent nearly five decades in the DC universe keeping colorful company with the likes of Dumb Bunny, Awkwardman, Blimp, and White Feather β€” not to mention crossing paths with heavyweights like Green Lantern. His appearances across titles as varied as Blackhawk and Batman: The Brave and the Bold speak to a surprising staying power for a character built on comic self-awareness, and any collector who loves the playful, satirical side of Silver Age DC will find Merryman an irresistible discovery.
