Manhunter
The Manhunters are ancient android warriors originally created by the Guardians of the Universe to serve as an interstellar police force, predating the Green Lantern Corps. After a catastrophic failure, they were abandoned by the Guardians but continued operating, nursing a vendetta against their former masters and the Corps they replaced.
Stepping out of the Bronze Age in 1977, this Manhunter made their DC debut in the pages of Justice League of America #149, brought to life by the creative team of Steve Englehart and Dick Dillin. Nearly five decades of appearances β stretching all the way to 2024 β speak to a quietly enduring presence in the DC universe, with turns in Flash, Danger Street, and Adventures of Superman painting a portrait of a character who moves through some of comics' most storied corners. Along the way, this Manhunter has shared the page with heavyweights like Superman, Green Lantern, and The Flash, as well as Mark Shaw and Clark Kent, making for some genuinely compelling company. With a key issue already on the collector's radar, this is one of those rewarding deep-dive figures that rewards the fan willing to look beyond the marquee names.
