Kong
Kenneth 'Kenny' McFarlane, known as Kong, is an ordinary student at Midtown High School in Marvel's Ultimate universe. A loyal friend and follower of Flash Thompson, he has no superhuman abilities — just the typical social dynamics of high-school life.
Right there in the very first issue of Ultimate Spider-Man — one of the most celebrated relaunches in Marvel's Modern Age history — Kong planted his flag as a fixture of the reimagined high-school world that Brian Michael Bendis, Bill Jemas, and Mark Bagley built from the ground up in 2000. Over roughly twelve years and 91 appearances across Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, and the annuals, he proved himself a genuine constant in that corner of the Ultimate Universe, sharing panels with the likes of Flash Thompson, Liz Allen, Gwen Stacy, and even Kitty Pryde. It's a seriously impressive supporting cast to run with, and Kong holds his own throughout — grounded, school-hallway real, and exactly the kind of character who gives a superhero's everyday world its texture and weight. With a key-issue debut and over a decade of continuous presence, he's a rewarding discovery for any collector digging deep into the Ultimate line.
