Hellcow
Bessie the Hellcow was an ordinary Swiss cow until Dracula fed upon her in 1471, inadvertently transforming her into a vampiric bovine. She would eventually resurface centuries later, wielding supernatural undead powers in suitably absurd Marvel fashion.
Leave it to the gloriously weird Bronze Age of Marvel Comics to give us Hellcow β a vampiric bovine who made her unforgettable debut in Giant-Size Man-Thing #5 in 1975, conjured by the endlessly inventive Steve Gerber and Ed Hannigan. Sharing early pages with Howard the Duck, Dracula, and the shambling Man-Thing tells you everything about the wonderfully unhinged corner of the Marvel universe she inhabits. With a catalog presence stretching all the way from 1975 to 2025, this unlikely creature has proven surprisingly durable, resurfacing most recently in Blood Hunters β proof that Marvel's strangest ideas have a way of refusing to stay buried (or staked). If you love the offbeat, cult-favorite side of comics history, Hellcow is exactly the kind of character worth tracking down.
