Giant-Size Man-Thing

Marvel’s Giant-Size Man-Thing (1974–1975) was a five-issue anthology series that gave the swamp-bound guardian of the Nexus of All Realities his own oversized showcase. Anchored by the moody, empathetic Man-Thing—the transformed Ted Sallis—the series also introduced readers to the wisecracking Howard the Duck in his earliest appearances. A rotating roster of legendary talents, including Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and Don Heck, contributed to its blend of horror, fantasy, and offbeat humor. Though short-lived, it remains a fascinating snapshot of Marvel’s 1970s experimentation, bridging the company’s darker supernatural roots with its growing penchant for quirky character-driven stories.
