Who is Brooklyn?

Brooklyn is a scrappy young member of the Boy Commandos, a WWII-era team of child soldiers from Allied nations who fought Axis forces under adult supervision. Representing America with street-tough New York attitude, Brooklyn served as the team's spirited, wisecracking U.S. representative.

Few characters carry the grit and spirit of their era quite like Brooklyn, a Golden Age original who burst onto the scene in Detective Comics #66 in 1942, courtesy of the legendary Bill Finger and Bob Kane. A fixture of Boy Commandos and a presence across DC's wartime and postwar landscape, Brooklyn has kept remarkable company over the decades β€” sharing pages with Batman, Robin, Bruce Wayne, and Green Lantern, no less. With nine key-issue appearances to their name and a publishing history that stretches an astonishing 84 years from the Golden Age all the way to 2026, Brooklyn is one of those quietly enduring figures who rewards the curious collector willing to dig into DC's rich, storied past.
