Box
Box is a powered exoskeleton robot originally built and piloted by Roger Bochs, a legless engineer who controlled it via a neural helmet as a member of Alpha Flight's Gamma Flight. Madison Jeffries later inherited the armor, merging with and reshaping it as living metal using his mutant technomorph abilities.
Born into the Copper Age of Marvel Comics with a debut in Alpha Flight Annual #2 in 1987, Box is a character whose history is woven tightly into the rich, distinctly Canadian tapestry of Alpha Flight β sharing pages with heavy-hitters like Vindicator, Walter Langkowski, Shaman, and Kara Killgrave across nearly four decades of adventures. With 57 catalog appearances spanning from 1987 all the way to 2025, Box has proven a quietly enduring presence, turning up not only throughout Alpha Flight but also within the pages of The Avengers, a crossover pedigree that speaks to genuine Marvel-Universe staying power. Two of those appearances carry key-issue status, making Box a worthwhile name for collectors digging into the deeper cuts of Alpha Flight lore β a corner of Marvel that rewards the curious fan who ventures beyond the obvious.
Real name. Roger Bochs (creator/first pilot); later Madison Jeffries
