Beaky Buzzard
Beaky Buzzard is a slow-witted, good-natured young buzzard from the Warner Bros. animated universe, known for his dopey charm and drawling innocence. He appeared in Dell's Looney Tunes comics alongside Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, and other Merrie Melodies favorites.
Straight out of the Golden Age, Beaky Buzzard made his comics debut in Dell's Four Color #88 in 1945, brought to the page by creator Carl Buettner at a moment when Dell's Looney Tunes line was pure Saturday-morning magic in print form. This lovably goofy bird spent over three decades flapping through the pages of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies Comics and Porky Pig, sharing panels with an all-star roster of Warner Bros. icons β Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig, and the rest of that irresistible cartoon crew. With 14 catalog appearances spanning 1945 to 1977 and three collector-recognized key issues to his name, Beaky is a genuine Golden Age gem β a charming reminder of when Dell Comics and the Looney Tunes universe made for some of the most joyful funny-animal comics on the spinner rack.
