Moon Knight
Marvel’s Moon Knight (1980–1984) follows Marc Spector, a former mercenary who becomes the vigilante Moon Knight under the guidance of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. With a supporting cast including his pilot Frenchie, love interest Marlene Alraune, and streetwise allies like Gena Landers and Bertrand Crawley, the series blends street-level crime-fighting with psychological and mystical undertones. Writers Doug Moench, Alan Zelenetz, and Tony Isabella, alongside artists Bill Sienkiewicz, Neal Adams, and Herb Trimpe, defined the character’s brooding, cinematic tone—especially Sienkiewicz’s later expressionistic art, which pushed the book into darker, more experimental territory. This 38-issue run remains the foundational era for Moon Knight, establishing his complex identity and cult appeal.
