About the series
Hedy De Vine Comics, a short-lived Marvel romance and humor series from the late 1940s, followed the misadventures of a glamorous but hapless fashion model and her circle of friends—including the sharp-tongued Millie Collins and the sweetly naive Tessie Tender. With scripts often handled by a young Stan Lee and art from talents like Ed Winiarski and Al Jaffee, the series offered a lighthearted, gag-driven take on post-war dating and career struggles. Though it ran only 14 issues, it stands as an early example of Marvel’s foray into female-led comedy, a precursor to the publisher’s later romance and teen titles.
