The mix-up is right there on the cover of this August 1948 Marvel romance-comedy: Hedy, glamorous in a red gown, presents a signed portrait inscribed "To Georgie with Love — Hedy," only for the tuxedo-clad fellow on the couch to remind her, with weary exasperation, "Yeah, it's lovely, but I'm Charlie, not George!" It's a perfectly timed snapshot of Hedy De Vine's chaotic charm — beautiful, bold, and perpetually one name off. With C. C. Beck writing and drawing the issue, fans of breezy postwar humor are in very capable hands.
