Walter Simonson and Howard Chaykin brought a gritty, supernatural noir to DC Comics with this 2006–2007 series, following Kendra Saunders as the reincarnated Hawkgirl. Over 17 issues, she balances her role as a museum curator in New York with a violent, otherworldly mystery involving a monstrous creature called Khimaera and a cast of cops and colleagues caught in the crossfire.
