Gladstone Comic Album Special
From 1989 to 1990, Gladstone Publishing released seven issues of the Gladstone Comic Album Special, a series that collected and celebrated classic Donald Duck stories. The line is most notable for spotlighting the work of the legendary Carl Barks, whose scripts and art are featured alongside contributions from later Duck masters like Don Rosa and Daan Jippes, with additional writing by Geoffrey Blum. These oversized albums re-presented adventures starring Donald and his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, offering a polished, archival-quality look at some of the most beloved tales from the Duck universe. This series matters as a key bridge between Barks’ original 1940s–60s run and the modern Duck revival, preserving his storytelling for a new generation of readers.
