Gladstone Comic Album Special #6
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis Gladstone Comic Album collects Uncle Scrooge stories centered on his ongoing rivalry with the sorceress Magica De Spell, who is determined to steal his Number One Dime. Featuring classic Carl Barks tales and later stories by other creators, the volume highlights Magica's many schemes and transformations in her quest for magical power. It's a focused look at one of Scrooge McDuck's most persistent and colorful adversaries.
In "The Midas Touch," Magica de Spell arrives in Duckburg with a mysterious request: she wants to buy a coin from Scrooge McDuck to power a magic amulet. When Scrooge accidentally hands her his cherished Old Number One Dime, she refuses to return it, sparking a high-stakes chase across the globe to her sorcery shop nestled on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius.
In "The Unsafe Safe," Scrooge McDuck seals his Money Bin behind an indestructible glass shield, confident it's finally secure from Magica de Spell and the Beagle Boys. But when he learns that the cry of a rare bird—the Tanganyika Yeeker—can shatter even that unbreakable glass, he’s forced to reconsider what truly keeps his fortune safe.
In "For Old Dime's Sake," Magica de Spell unleashes a storm of chaos to steal Scrooge's prized Old Number One Dime, only to outwit his defenses and trick him into revealing the safe’s combination. Disguised as Scrooge himself, she slips past his guards and sets her sights on the fortune hidden within.
In "The Many Faces of Magica de Spell," Magica de Spell concocts a peculiar potion that mirrors the last face a person saw—turning their own features into that image. When Scrooge learns of it, he flees Duckburg with his Old Number One Dime, seeking refuge in a remote jungle valley inhabited by a mysterious race of faceless beings. Magica tracks him down, and in a moment of cunning, sprays the potion on his face.
