☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis oversized album collects classic Carl Barks Uncle Scrooge stories, originally published in the 1950s, including the epic adventure 'The Golden River' and other tales of Scrooge McDuck's globe-trotting quests for fortune. Part of Gladstone's series of squarebound comic albums, this volume reprints full-color stories in a larger format designed to showcase Barks's detailed artwork.
In "The Second-Richest Duck," Scrooge McDuck travels to South Africa to settle the long-standing debate over who truly holds the title of the world’s richest duck—only to discover the ultimate measure of wealth comes down to a single, surprisingly humble thing: a ball of string. With Flintheart Glomgold, the self-proclaimed richest duck, the two rivals set out across the African plains to roll their respective strings and see whose is the longest.
In "The Money Champ," Uncle Scrooge takes on Flintheart Glomgold in a high-stakes money pile competition, each determined to prove they're the world's richest duck. With stacks of cash soaring and pride on the line, the race to build the ultimate fortune becomes a wild, waddling showdown.
In "So Far and No Safari," Scrooge sets off for Africa with Donald and the nephews to bid on a gold mine, only to have their plane shot down by Flintheart Glomgold, who’s determined to keep them from the prize. Forced to trek across the savanna on foot, the ducks rely on the Junior Woodchuck whistles to summon a series of increasingly chaotic animal helpers, all while Flintheart’s relentless pursuit keeps them one step ahead of disaster.
