From 1972 to 1976, K. G. Murray’s Doomsday delivered 28 issues of punchy, no-frills action, with Joe Gill scripting the bulk of the stories and artists Sheldon Moldoff, Bob Forgione, and Bud Thompson providing the gritty visuals. A quintessential Australian reprint comic of the era, it repackaged American war and adventure tales for a local audience, often featuring the grimly determined soldier Sgt. Fury and other tough-as-nails protagonists. Its raw, kinetic energy and unpretentious storytelling made it a staple of the newsstand, capturing the pulp spirit of the early '70s.
