About the series
In the late 1980s, Paul Chadwick wrote and drew this thoughtful, ten-issue Dark Horse series about a man whose consciousness is transferred into a massive, stone-skinned body after an alien encounter. Rather than a traditional superhero saga, Concrete explores the quiet, human-scale challenges of its protagonist, who uses his incredible strength to travel, write, and grapple with his new existence. Chadwick’s grounded, character-driven approach made this a standout work of mature, introspective comics during the early days of the direct market.
