“A Remarkable Life”

Paul Chadwick's cover for issue #7 says everything about the quiet power of this series: the massive stone figure of Concrete sits restrained in a metal framework against a blazing red sky, while a small golden dog curls up peacefully at his feet — a striking contrast of vulnerability and immensity. A small inset portrait in the corner teases "Maureen's Husband," adding a touch of human mystery to the proceedings. "A Remarkable Life" is a fitting subtitle for a 1988 Dark Horse series that consistently found the deeply personal within the extraordinary.
