About the series
From 2001 to 2005, the German publisher Carlsen Comics released Banzai, a 50-issue anthology series that brought together some of the most celebrated names in manga. Featuring work by Masashi Kishimoto, Hiroyuki Takei, and Akira Toriyama, the series introduced German readers to a mix of action and adventure, with recurring appearances by Naruto Uzumaki, Kakashi Hatake, and other key characters from Kishimoto's ninja saga. As an early German gateway to hit Japanese series, Banzai helped build the foundation for the country's enduring love of manga.
