With all her savings gone, Monica applies for the job of the company's president. Initially, she is rejected but the president himself intervenes to give her the job. Eventually, they fall in love and he asks her to marry him, but she overhears him telling someone that he was marrying her out of pity. She is heartbroken until she realizes that he knew she was outside the door. He had only said those words because he knew he was facing bankruptcy and couldn't provide her with the things he had promised.
