Yosemite Sam #5
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeIn "The Legal Pest," Yosemite Sam, down to his last carrot and out of luck, finds himself at a crossroads—bankrupt, unemployed, and refusing to wear anything but a pirate's garb. When a pair of smugglers offer him a job in a "maritime research" project—complete with a sailor suit and a chance to work alongside Bugs Bunny—Sam takes the deal, but Bugs isn’t buying the cover story. Written by Don R. Christensen and illustrated by Fred Abranz, this 1971 Western comic delivers classic slapstick tension with a twist, all wrapped in a cover by Phil De Lara.
When Bugs Bunny tries to tag along on Yosemite Sam’s sea voyage, Sam’s quick no turns into a tangled web of mischief. Once aboard, Sam’s cousin Shiftless shows up—proof that even a pirate’s worst nightmare can get worse. To keep Shiftless distracted, Sam tricks Bugs into signing a contract to be the ship’s official pest, but the plan quickly spirals when the real troublemaker proves harder to outwit than expected.
Yosemite Sam, down to his last carrot and flat broke after years of pirating, finds himself evicted by his landlord, Mister Meanmugg, and forced to scavenge from Elmer Fudd’s garden. When two smugglers, Ludd and Shorty, overhear his plight, they offer him a job—sailor attire included—on a “maritime research” project, promising a fresh start. Bugs Bunny, ever the skeptic, quietly investigates the odd crew and their surprisingly cooperative costume shop proprietor, wondering just how deep the ruse goes.
Yosemite Sam’s back at sea, chasing glory with a rusty cutlass and a new first mate—Bugs Bunny, who’s more interested in the snacks than the swashbuckling. When their rickety ship nearly sinks trying to raid a luxury cruise liner, Sam sets course for a remote island, eyeing the natives’ “worthless pearls” as his next big score.
