Tad Carter introduces Lorna to the other members of the Promise. The X-Men attempt to rescue Lorna and are tricked into attacking each other by one of the telepathic members of the Promise. Teri Martin and Professor X discuss Ashley's mutancy, as Teri starts to develop feelings for the professor. Lorna learns the origin of the Promise and is forced into suspended animation by Tobias Messenger, their leader, as are Angel and Havok.
