“Waiting for the End of the World”

In "Waiting for the End of the World," Alan Moore and Alan Davis deliver a tense, high-stakes chapter where the fate of Earth-616 hangs in the balance as the James Jaspers of that reality unleashes a reality-warping crusade to erase all superheroes. With Merlyn and Roma watching in dread, Captain Britain struggles to rally Linda to reclaim her role as Captain U.K., only to see her flee—just as she’s captured by the Fury. The cover by Alan Davis captures the moment’s urgency, a striking visual of a world teetering on collapse.

Merlyn and Roma look on with concern as their cosmic game begins to spiral out of control. The James Jaspers of Earth-616 begins his campaign to eradicate all superheroes. Thanks to his mutant ability to warp reality, his plans begin to come to fruition very quickly. Captain Britain tries to convince Linda to resume her duties as Captain U.K. but she is terrified of a repeat of the madness Jaspers created in her home reality and runs off, unfortunately, right into the waiting arms of the Fury.
