“Messiah Complex Chapter Nine”

In "Messiah Complex Chapter Nine," the X-Folk grapple with the loss of Caliban as the mutant community faces escalating threats, both in the present and a grim future where Jamie and Layla are imprisoned in an internment camp. With Cerebra restored and the New X-Men aiding in the search, Cable races to Forge’s aerie to find a time machine—only to discover Forge shot and ambushed by Bishop, who now stands poised to kill the mutant baby. Written by Mike Carey and illustrated by Chris Bachalo, with inks by Tim Townsend and Jonathan Sibal, and colors by Brian Reber, the issue’s cover by David Finch captures the tension in a single, stark moment.
