X-Men (vol. 2) #15 is the seventh chapter of the twelve-part 'X-Cutioner's Song' crossover — the sprawling 1992–93 event that united all four X-titles at the absolute peak of the franchise's cultural reach. Titled 'The Camel's Back,' the issue delivers the pivotal moment in which the combined X-Men, X-Factor, and X-Force squads finally rout the Mutant Liberation Front, effectively dismantling Stryfe's personal strike force for the first time and closing the book on the MLF's original incarnation. Simultaneously, Stryfe's confrontation with a weakened Apocalypse in this issue raises the crossover's thematic stakes — the 'demon of tomorrow' forcing a reckoning with the 'devil of yesterday' — while the appearance of the Dark Riders (Barrage, Foxbat, Gauntlet, Hard-Drive, Psynapse, Tusk, and their underlings) consolidates Apocalypse's supporting cast at a defining crossroads for that corner of the X-universe. The issue was written by Fabian Nicieza with pencils by Andy Kubert and inks by Mark Pennington, under editor Bob Harras and editor-in-chief Tom DeFalco — the same core creative team responsible for the X-Men vol. 2 chapters throughout the crossover. 'X-Cutioner's Song' itself was conceived by writers Scott Lobdell, Peter David, and Nicieza as a way to weaponize the enormous readership that Jim Lee and Chris Claremont's relaunch had generated in 1991, threading four ongoing titles into a single narrative that promised — though ultimately did not deliver — a definitive origin for Cable. Each issue in the crossover, including this one, was polybagged and included an exclusive trading card featuring character profiles written from Stryfe's point of view; the card packaged with #15 depicted the Mutant Liberation Front and was drawn by Greg Capullo and Harry Candelario.

Stryfe confronts a recovering Apocalypse and defeats the Dark Riders (Barrage, Foxbat, Gauntlet, Hard-Drive, Psynapse, Tusk) guarding him — an act that sets up the Dark Riders switching allegiances in the following chapter.
Rogue is temporarily blinded by MLF member Strobe during the battle; Boom-Boom suffers a broken jaw — two of the more consequential character injuries in the crossover.
