“Target X Part Six”

In "Target X Part Six," X-23 confronts the man she was cloned from—Wolverine—in a brutal clash of legacy and identity. After a hard-fought battle, the two find uneasy kinship before SHIELD intervenes, capturing X-23 and bringing her before Captain America. As she recounts her painful past to Cap and Matt, the question of her future hangs in the balance. Written by Craig Kyle and Chris Yost, with dynamic art by Mike Choi and vibrant colors by Sonia Oback, this pivotal issue sees X-23’s fate decided not by force, but by a choice that challenges the very systems that shaped her. The cover, also by Mike Choi, captures the intensity of her final stand.

X-23 tracks down Wolverine, the man she was cloned from at the Weapon X project, and has it out with him in a full pitched battle. Finally finding some common ground with her "father," the pair are attacked by SHIELD, and X-23 is taken into custody by Captain America once Wolverine has been neutralized. X-23 finishes telling Cap and Matt her tragic tale and Matt argues to release her while Captain America thinks she should be brought to justice. Realizing that SHIELD will simply use her deadly talents in much the same way the Weapon X program did, Captain America lets her go.
