Wolverine: Origins #50
Wolverine: Origins #50 is the conclusion of Daniel Way's ambitious, single-author, 50-issue narrative — one of the longest unbroken writer runs on a Wolverine title in Marvel history. The issue closes a story arc built around the premise that Logan's entire adult life was orchestrated by the shadowy villain Romulus, bringing that macro-conspiracy to a thematic end as Wolverine consciously chooses to stop being defined by his engineered past and look toward the future. More durably, the entire series — capped here — introduced Daken (Akihiro), Wolverine's mutant son, who went on to lead his own ongoing series and become a recurring fixture across the X-Men line. The backup story, featuring a vignette between Logan and Hope Summers, also plants a small but deliberate bridge to the then-unfolding X-Men: Second Coming era.

The series launched in June 2006 as a direct continuation of the post-House of M 'Origins and Endings' arc from Wolverine Vol. 3 #36–40, with Way and artist Steve Dillon — who drew the first 25 issues — building the Romulus conspiracy across four years. Will Conrad took over art duties for the final arc (issues #47–50), while Axel Alonso served as group editor throughout much of the run with Joe Quesada as editor-in-chief. Way had previously told interviewers that Daken's story was designed to be intentionally open-ended by the series' conclusion, providing what he called 'fertile ground for years worth of stories' — a goal partially realized when Daken received his own solo title the same month Origins ended.
