Wolverine: Origins #1
Wolverine: Origins #1 launched the dedicated ongoing series that, for the first time, made the full consequences of Logan's restored memory — given back to him at the close of House of M — the entire engine of a solo title. By anchoring its premise in post-House of M continuity, the series committed Marvel to a sustained, 50-issue reckoning with the darkest chapters of Wolverine's manipulated past rather than treating recovered memories as a passing story beat. The series is historically significant as the franchise that introduced Daken (Akihiro), Wolverine's long-lost son — a character who went on to headline his own solo series, join the Dark Avengers, and become a persistent fixture of the X-Men line. Issue #1 also reestablished the Muramasa Blade as a major recurring weapon in Wolverine's mythology, a sword whose plot thread wound through the entire 50-issue run and beyond.
In "Born in Blood Part One," Wolverine storms the White House, demanding answers from the Secretary of State about his mysterious past—only to be ambushed by a Shiva robot. As the government scrambles to contain the situation, they dispatch Nuke to hunt down the adamantium-clad fugitive. Written by Daniel Way and illustrated by Steve Dillon, with colors by Dan Kemp and letters by Randy Gentile, this pivotal issue features a striking cover by Michael Turner.

Writer Daniel Way, whose earlier Marvel work included Venom and Supreme Power: Nighthawk — several of which he had already developed with artist Steve Dillon — reunited with Dillon for this series, with Dillon penciling and inking from issue #1 through #25. The title was edited by Axel Alonso, who had championed Way at Marvel since his early career. The series was designed as a direct continuation of the 'Origins and Endings' arc in Wolverine vol. 3 #36–40 and House of M #8, and ran concurrently with the main Wolverine ongoing title. Cover art for the debut issue was provided by Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada with colors by Richard Isanove, and an alternate cover was produced by artist Michael Turner with colorist Peter Steigerwald.
