Archangel fails to break the control of Apocalypse and becomes his angel of death. With X-Factor feeling helpless to reach their former friend, Archangel scours the city for mutants who are too weak to serve his master and kills them. That is, until he learns that Cameron Hodge has captured his old girlfriend, Candy Southern. Archangel comes to her rescue, kills Hodge and banishes his ally, N'astirh, to Limbo, sacrificing himself to stop Inferno before it starts.
