“There'll Be Some Changes Made!”

In "There'll Be Some Changes Made!", the bizarre deaths of notorious criminals—each missing a heart, lung, and stomach—stump authorities, until a mysterious figure named Smedley Throbbins reveals a shocking truth: he’s been operating in the fourth dimension, performing flawless, skinless surgeries to transplant vital organs and heal the dying. With eerie precision and a twist that defies physics, this enigmatic surgeon vanishes before the law can catch him. Written by Bill Gaines and Al Feldstein, illustrated by Bill Elder with vibrant colors by Marie Severin and sharp lettering by Jim Wroten, and featuring a striking cover by Wally Wood, this 1952 EC classic blends science fiction and moral ambiguity in a story that’s as clever as it is unsettling.

The authorities try to figure how several notorious criminals suddenly die and are discovered to have no heart, lung or stomach, while critically ill patients suddenly recover from their maladies involving those major organs. When they call in Smedley Throbbins, they get their answer: the man simply entered the 4th Dimension, surgically removed the organs in question without cutting through the skin, and then, using surgical techniques, placed them in the patients' bodies. He then disappears into another dimension so he can't be prosecuted for murder.
